Stenciling on Wicker
I've been seeing a lot of stenciling on wicker lately and think it looks really neat. I've seen numbers, stripes and writing. You can see some examples of what I'm talking about on my pin board titled,
It seemed simple enough, so I decided to give it a try.
I began with an antique basket I had. As you may see it is even lacking considered one of it is handles... I'm guessing it is in my boy's toy field someplace, since it resembles some type of sword or weapon.
I got these stencils at Hobby Lobby a while back, and as you can tell they have gotten a craft load of use.
I painted on the stencil using a sponge brush. It worked great and I was able to get down into all of the the cracks with it. I used a dark brown paint but I've seen this done in black, white and blue. I'm sure it would look great in any color really.
I really didn't have much of a plan. I just picked the numbers that I thought would look good. I started in the middle then added on from there. It originally just had 194, but then I decided to keep going. I like the way it turned out.
I'm sure I'll now be painting more of my wicker baskets.
Thanks for preventing through,
Emily
