Fireplace Makeover - Rustic Wood Planks on Fireplace
Our fireside got a makeover and is looking a bit one-of-a-kind than regular.
I'm honestly excited to share greater about it with you these days!
Okay, so as you know, our fireplace had white planks before. The story about how the white planks came to be can be read HERE. It's a pretty funny story by the way. I actually just re-visited that post and had a good laugh. My Mother-in-law and I sure have a lot of fun together.
BEFORE:
Now, I still truly like the white planks, I become simply in a temper to alternate things up a piece. And since the returned side of the white planks are wood, I've always been curious of how that could appearance if I flipped them around. So I examined it out through turning over of the slats and from there I decided to just go for it.
When I eliminated the planks I become reminded that I as soon as had painted our fireplace inexperienced. It become a pleasing marvel seeing the inexperienced, I hardly ever recall it ever looking this way.
The wooden was in quite rough condition at first. The texture of the timber changed into remarkable uncooked and simply manner more rustic than I wanted it to be. The shade of the wooden become no longer remarkable either. Just truly patchy.
See what I mean?
So I gave the planks a good sanding with my little hand sander and then I applied a heavy coat of THIS weathered gray stain. I was pleasantly surprised at what a difference that all made.
On the left is the Before and on the Right is the after
I nailed the planks returned into vicinity and re-hung my rattan reflect.
The wooden truely warms up our dwelling room and adds a extra relaxed rustic experience, which I'm splendid enthusiastic about. I'm already thinking about how it's going to examine Christmas time with a large quite wreath striking on it.
Oh I bet I must also mention that I spray-painted my rattan mirror from inexperienced to white. I knew that the white would actually pop off of the wooden fantastically and I changed into right.
If I ever get tired of the wood look or miss the white, I can always just turn the planks back around. Or I could even re-paint the white side in another color, or re-stain the wood in another finish. I really like that I have so many options.
So what do you think? Do you like the wood? Let me know in a comment below, or come chat with me on Facebook or Instagram.
