Revisiting the rocks in my head

--------------------------------------------

Rocks are divided into three categories: sedimentary, metamorphic and igneous. A lot of times those 3 lessons are called stages due to the fact every magnificence can morph into every of the opposite classes over long intervals of time. But it is can morph, it is not automatic.

In English, those 3 lessons may be quite extensively defined like this: sedimentary rocks are shaped by means of compacted sediment, metamorphic rocks are rocks that are transformed via warmth and strain after they're already shaped and igneous rocks are formed by means of cooling magma. Some examples of sedimentary rocks are limestone and travertine. Some metamorphic rocks are marble, quartzite, soapstone and slate. Finally an igneous rock it is in quite a few peoples' homes is granite.

In the chart above, there is a delineation made between intrusive and extrusive igneous rock. Intrusive way that a formation of igneous rock rises into the earth's crust however doesn't ruin the surface. Not breaking the surface effects in a completely particular crystal structure. Extrusive igneous rock breaks the surface and cools quickly when no longer below strain. This outcomes in a special shape even if the magma has the same composition.

So there's my breakdown of the 3 lessons of rock. There are examples of all 3 instructions that become being pressed into use via humanity and I'll be spending a while explaining them further. First up might be granite.
