Pink Walls: On letting little girls pick

Wells has been telling everyone that her Daddy is going to paint her new room pink.  That wasn't the plan.  I wanted the whole house painted Classic Gray by Benjamin Moore. It's my favorite and it gives me the opportunity to start off with a nice clean slate.  Wells has other plans.  Pink and purple and pink plans to be exact.  So tell me, do you let your kids pick things in their rooms?  Big things like wall colors or bedspreads?  What about if said kid isn't even three yet?

I think I could live with light pink walls.  I'm just concerned it's going to be too cliche.  Any advice on this?  Any light pink paint colors you'd suggest?
