I've made this quick video to go along with todays post :)

Let's simply begin with my biggest tip ever and this is to Always, Always, Always use spray paint while painting wicker.

Spray paint allows you to really get into all of the weaves of wicker higher than another paint that I've ever tried.

As far as spray paint goes, there really are ones that are better than others.  I really like the spray paint from COLORSHOT. It covers really well, and COLORSHOT offers so many beautiful vibrant colors to choose from. For today's project, I decided on a color called, Shark!!!.

I've had this antique wicker rocking chair for years now and I concept that it might be a super candidate for modern submit as I share my step by step guide for portray wicker.

The white finish in this wicker rocking chair turned into looking clearly worn and dated and so I felt like it could genuinely use a sparkling cutting-edge makeover.

Step 1. Clean Wicker.

Before you get began portray, you want to first provide the wicker a brief cleansing. I even have found that a kitchen scrub brush works flawlessly for stepping into all of the nicks and crannies of the wicker. It's clean for dirt to get caught into the weaves so just provide the wicker a short brush off and you have to be right to go.

Step 2. Layout Cardboard.

I love to use old portions of cardboard underneath something that I spray paint.

Not best does it protect the ground below from getting painted, however it also provides a smooth, flat work area if you want to paint on.

Sure, you could use plastic sheets or newspaper but I genuinely like to use cardboard the quality.

So the following time you get a package deal that has big pieces of cardboard, preserve on to them after which when you are prepared to color some thing, you will be satisfied you did.

Step three. Apply spray paint from each perspective.

Painting wicker is a touch bit unique than portray other surfaces. Because wicker has such a lot of layers and weaves, you truly should approach it from all angles. Begin via lightly spraying with long even strokes to get the primary coat of spray paint on. Once the primary coat has dried, repeat the method but spray in the contrary direction than you had earlier than.

Step 4. Turn your wicker the wrong way up.

It's usually a great idea to show your wicker the other way up and spray anywhere where you can have overlooked earlier than. This may also will let you spray the wicker at every other perspective to attain areas that you can have missed before.

Step five. Apply a Sealer

It's usually a very good concept to apply a sealer to seal and guard your wicker whilst you are finished.

If you plan to have your wicker outdoors then definitely don't skip this step. A good sealer will give a layer of protection from the sun, rain, and other outdoor elements. I really like this Clear Sealer from COLORSHOT.

And just for reference, for this wicker rocking chair assignment, I used three cans of spray paint and it is easy to of the sealer and it took days to finish. I gave it lots of time to dry between coats.

Are you prepared to look the way it turned out?

I love how my wicker chair makeover became out.

The Grey color is lovely and the the finish is so first-rate and smooth.

I removed the red slipcover that came with the chair and I replaced it with a white slipcover. This white slipcover is surely from a white Ikea Ektorp couch that I'm no longer presently the use of on my sofa.

The spraypaint that I used is made for indoor/outdoor but I choose to convey my chair indoors and area it in our sunroom. This room has a whole lot of windows so it is first-class to rock within the chair and experience the view and clean air.

Okay, if you want me, I'll maximum probably be placing out in here any longer :)

So what do you observed?

Isn't it terrific how a good deal some cans of spray paint can completely transform a chunk of furnishings?

I think so.

Thanks for stopping via nowadays,

Emily
