Backyard potting area with a DIY Awning

Hello!

So each weekend I like to give myself at the least one little venture to get done around the residence. Usually I awareness on an area that would use a touch sharpening up and so closing weekend I selected to easy up my little potting station that I created some years ago. This potting station is located in a little corner place right beside our garage.

This place receives grimy fast because it's right underneath a huge catalpa tree. If you familiar with a catalpa tree then you may know how messy they are. It's a big beautiful tree and I adore it madly, but it drops 3 times a year. First it drops its lengthy wood like seed pods, then it drops its stunning white flora and then inside the Fall it drops its humongous length leaves.

Here is a picture of the tree and where this potting station is placed in our backyard:

Anyway, so due to the fact this location receives messy speedy I notion it'd be notable to find a way to cowl it up a chunk and this is after I got innovative and made this awning.

I found an antique broken Ikea hammock in our garage and I knew it would be first rate to apply as an awing.

I had to cut off all of the ropes and then I had to cut the fabric to the size I needed.  I then nailed the wood part of the hammock to the top of the wall of this little nook area. I seriously still can't believe that it was the perfect fit!

I then rolled the alternative stop of the cloth around an vintage hoe and then quite a great deal simply wedged it between the 2 contrary walls to hold all of it in vicinity.

I might have used the alternative slat from the hammock, however that became the part of the hammock that was broken, and the vintage hoe become just the right length I needed. It's wedged quite tightly so I'm not worried with it falling.

So yeah, I sincerely simply rigged everything together, however hello it works!

I wanted to proportion this simply in case someone else happens to have an old fabric hammock accessible... Perhaps you too may want to find a manner to apply it as an awning somewhere around your house. Maybe?

Another thing that I've found a new purpose for is this old rake head that I've hung up. It works great for hanging  my  gardening tools on.

The little steel inexperienced shelf got here from a backyard sale and it really works well for holding all of my extra pots which are simply ready to be potted with plants :)

If you like my potting station then just recognise that it become great smooth to create. Take a go searching your yard and probabilities are you've got a place to create one too.
