painted blue dresser
I fell in love with this distressed blue cloth cabinet from Pottery Barn Teen when it first hit the catalogue final year and new the look could be best in my master bedroom.
Right here
I have two entire bedroom suits of Queen Anne furniture that's just not my style and are prime for reporpusing.
I already painted the long dresser white for BabyGirl's Nursery and was thrilled with the result so I thought the tall dresser deserved a makeover too
Here's the gist of what I did
Step 1
flow cloth wardrobe out of doors and take drawers out
Step 2
lightly sand the use of an electric sander.
The greater you sand the better, however I simply did it gently to get all the shellac finish and wax off because I'm no longer that sturdy and my fingers began hurting earlier than I got off the dark stain
dirt off
Step three
paint the entire thing the usage of a pretty medium thick coat
Not exactly dry brushed but not globbed on both
Step 4
drink a tumbler of wine whilst it's drying
You'll find you virtually have time for a couple of glass however I would not propose it as it could interfere with the next several steps
Step 5
take a chunk of sand paper and with a totally mild hand tough up your paint process a piece
It's especially nice to remove all the paint in the corners or crevices
dirt off
Step 6
Go in advance and pour any other glass to enjoy at some point of the subsequent step
Step 7
Using a lint loose white fabric (you may buy them at Home Depot or Lowe's within the portray phase) dip into a can of briwax in darkish walnut
Working in a single section at a time, wipe the corners and crevices with wax
then wipe the rest of your segment following with the grain of the wooden
take a 2d rag and wipe away any extra.
Continue with this technique until you have finished the whole piece
I discover it simplest to work from the top down and to do each of the drawers while they're still loose status
Step 8
Finish that bottle of wine even as it is drying
